Large Willow Guanyin Statue in Copper

Description

Seen across a room, the long silhouette and warm copper tones give this standing figure a quiet presence. Closer up, the patterned robe borders, beaded necklace and small seated Buddha in the crown reward attention. Dark recesses trace the ornament against the brighter surfaces of the face and hands.

This large copper Guanyin statue is made in Tongling, Anhui, using lost-wax casting. The reddish-brown surface follows the folds down to bare feet resting on a double lotus base. The tilted vessel and raised willow create an open, gently asymmetric gesture within the upright form.

Compassion in the Willow and Water

Willow Guanyin, also called Yangliu Guanyin (杨柳观音), is named for the branch she holds. The spelling Yangliu Kuan Yin refers to the same form of the bodhisattva of compassion. The willow and vase are associated with sprinkling purifying water—a reminder of care offered to those who suffer.

The figure is also presented in the Western Pure Land triad, where Guanyin accompanies Amitabha Buddha and Mahasthamaprapta. This listing is for one Guanyin statue with the lotus base shown. Its compassionate expression can be appreciated on its own in a place set aside for prayer or reflection.

Making Room for a Large Standing Figure

The total height is approximately 121 cm (47.6 in), including the base. The base measures 45 cm (17.7 in) in diameter, and the statue weighs approximately 70 kg (154.3 lb). These proportions suit a spacious shrine or a dedicated display area with room to see the full figure.

Plan the position and access route before moving it. Use a firm, level floor or a display base rated for this weight, and arrange experienced help for lifting and placement. Keep the statue indoors in a dry setting; dust with a soft, dry cloth and avoid abrasive metal polish or acidic cleaners.
