Joined palms create a clear point of attention in front of the body. For someone drawn to this gesture of reverence, the relationship between the hands and face can be more important than a particular base or finish. Guanyin with joined palms may be represented in more than one posture.
Compare seated Guan Yin with standing Quan Yin to see which arrangement suits your altar or room. When choosing a Kuan Yin, check that the actual hands are joined and consider how the gesture will appear at your viewing height. Material, color and dimensions are described for each piece.

A familiar gesture gives Hezhang Guanyin its name: palms pressed together in reverence. Glossy Dehua white porcelain carries that gesture from the softly modeled face to the folded sleeves and lotus seat. The smaller figure has a vase resting on the lap; the larger one sits on a taller lotus throne, with its own sculpted proportions.
A broad, curling lotus leaf rises behind Guanyin, framing the lowered gaze and palms held together at the chest. Carved in Huali wood with a warm amber-brown sheen, this 46 cm (18.1 in) figure has the scale to become the focal point of a home altar or a dedicated display.
At just 7 cm (2.8 in) tall, this boxwood Kuan Yin fits in an open palm. Its rounded face, small smile and hands held together give the carving an approachable character. Keep it beside your books, or give it to someone who treasures Guanyin.
Cream-white palms meet at the heart of this Hezhang Guanyin. Muted teal robes spread around the crossed legs, their fine, sandy texture contrasting with the smooth face and hands. The tall crown and curling ribbons give the seated figure its distinctive outline.
