Copper Willow Guanyin with a Downturned Vase

Description

A small turn of the wrist gives this statue its character. Guanyin holds the water vase downward beside the thigh, while the opposite hand raises a fine willow sprig near the shoulder. The robes fall in deep folds and sweep outward above the lotus, suggesting movement beneath the still, lowered gaze.

The Gesture of Willow Guanyin

Yangliu (杨柳) means willow. The branch and pure-water vase are traditional attributes of Guanyin’s compassion. This Yangliu Kuan Yin turns the vessel downward beside the thigh, balancing the raised sprig across a long standing body. The two heights keep that downward gesture as the defining detail.

A small seated Buddha rests within the crown, framed by the hood. The rounded face and restrained hand gestures of this standing Kuan Yin reward a closer look, while the long robe folds remain clear from across a room.

Warm Copper, Deeply Folded Robes

Made in Tongling, Anhui, this copper Willow Guanyin statue has a reddish-brown surface with darker recesses. Highlights follow the edges of the sleeves and drapery. Beneath the feet, pointed lotus petals rise above a rounded pedestal decorated with raised floral forms.

The 38 cm (15.0 in) statue suits a smaller altar or dedicated display shelf; the 48 cm (18.9 in) version gives the standing figure more presence. Check the footprint and weight against your display surface before choosing a height.

One copper Guanyin statue with its pictured lotus pedestal is included. Measurements include the pedestal and are approximate.

Display indoors on a level, stable surface. Support the base when moving the statue, keeping pressure off the willow, fingers and vase. Remove dust with a soft, dry cloth and avoid abrasive metal polish or prolonged moisture.
