Ruyi Guanyin Statue on a Lotus and Wave Base

Description

The curved scepter gives this Ruyi Guanyin statue its name. Ruyi means “as you wish”; in Chinese decorative arts, the scepter has long carried an expression of good wishes. For someone beginning a new chapter, the figure can make that sentiment tangible.

Guanyin stands with lowered eyes and a small vase in the other hand. Long folds of robe lead down to an openwork base, where lotus buds and blossoms appear among broad leaves and curling waves. The unpainted white version lets those sculpted forms catch the light. On the painted versions, pink flowers, green leaves and blue waves make the base especially vivid.

Guanyin is the bodhisattva of compassion. The ruyi scepter adds a message of goodwill to this standing figure, while the vase and flower-filled base retain its devotional character. A gift of this design can carry the particular wish expressed by the scepter’s name.

White & Gold has white robes, painted facial features and fine gold-colored outlines. Lavender & Gold and Yellow-Green & Gold carry color across the robes as well. The plain White option has no painted eyes or lips. All four are glazed ceramic; “Gold” describes the color of the decoration.

The White & Gold version is 47 cm (18.5 in) tall, with a slightly wider base. The other three are 48 cm (18.9 in) tall. Select the color to see the corresponding figure and dimensions; sculpted and painted details vary between versions.

Your selection includes one statue and a gift box. Other objects shown in the original video are display props and are not included.

Place indoors on a stable, level surface with space around the crown and projecting ornaments. Support the base with both hands when moving it; avoid lifting by the scepter, fingers or flowers. Dust gently with a soft, dry brush or cloth.
