Guanyin Holding Prayer Beads in Boxwood

A loop of prayer beads hangs between Guanyin’s hands, following the long folds of her robes down toward a double lotus pedestal. The golden boxwood and gently lowered gaze give this standing figure an intimate presence. Five heights let you find the right scale for your own space.

Description

This boxwood Guanyin statue with prayer beads draws the eye down from the veiled crown to the hands and the carved strand below them. Long, overlapping folds give the standing figure a sense of movement, while the two tiers of lotus petals gather the composition into a compact round base.

Prayer Beads at the Waist

Nazhu Guanyin (拿珠观音) means “Guanyin holding beads.” Both hands gather around the carved loop at the waist, with individual beads visible against the robe. The strand follows the same vertical direction as the folds before they open above the lotus.

Prayer beads help practitioners keep count during Buddhist prayer or mantra recitation. Here they are part of the carving, not a separate wearable strand. Their small repeated forms give Nazhu Kuan Yin a point of detail between the lowered gaze and the full double lotus pedestal.

The detail changes with the scale

The five versions share the standing pose, prayer beads and lotus pedestal, but the faces, robe folds and proportions have their own small differences. The photographs show each size individually, so you can compare the actual carvings rather than a single image resized five times. The 12 cm (4.7 in) figure fits into a small display; the 30 cm (11.8 in) version gives the drapery and bead carving more room to be seen.

Made in boxwood and finished by hand, the figure has a honey-gold appearance with visible grain and highlights along the folds. Natural grain and tone vary from piece to piece. The rear detail photograph follows the robe folds down to the carved lotus petals.

Each purchase includes one statue in your selected size, with its carved lotus pedestal and a gift box. The group shown in the video is a size comparison. Plants, incense holders, loose prayer beads and separate display stands are photographic props.
