Description

This Baozhu Guanyin statue is named for the round jewel held gently between the palms. Its reflective gold-colored surface stands out against the pale hands and white robes. Pink shades the tips of the lotus petals beneath the crossed legs, while fine gold-colored lines follow the folds of the robe and the scrolls around the base.

The matching Jingping Guanyin statue carries a narrow vase in place of the jewel. The distinction is the object in the hands, not a different color option: both forms have black hair, softly painted features and a white, pink and gold palette.

Jewel or Vase

Baozhu (宝珠) means “precious jewel”; Jingping (净瓶) refers to the vase. These are the names used by Daiyutang for this design. The jewel-holding form comes in heights of 31 cm (12.2 in) and 42.5 cm (16.7 in). The vase-holding form is offered at 31 cm (12.2 in). Each size has its own front-view photograph so that you can see its proportions before selecting.

The jewel and vase create different centers of attention. Baozhu Kuan Yin gathers both hands around a rounded form; Jingping’s narrow vessel leads the eye upward. Compare the held object as well as the height when choosing between the three available combinations.

Display and Care

Includes one ceramic statue in the selected form and height, with its lotus seat. Display indoors on a stable, level surface.
