Description

The vase sits just in front of the hip, framed by the left hand and a loop of cloth. Across the figure, the raised right hand opens the composition, while a trailing edge of robe curves outward near the base. Broad petals gather around the feet, above a lower plinth covered with scroll-like relief.

This Guanyin statue with a vase has a glossy white surface that catches light along these folds and raised details. Its measured footprint is 18.5 × 15.5 cm (7.3 × 6.1 in), so the upright figure suits an altar arrangement where height is part of the composition. Leave clear space around the crown and projecting robe when placing it.

The Gulian Name

The standing figure and richly shaped lotus pedestal are brought together in the name Li Gulian Guanyin (立古莲观音). Li means standing; Gulian, literally “ancient lotus,” names the pedestal design. This contemporary Guanyin carries a small vase above broad petals and scrolling relief.

The tall figure places the raised hand and vase above a narrow footprint, while the deeply shaped pedestal carries much of the lower detail. This standing Gulian Kwan Yin works best with clear space around the crown and the outward-curving robe so the full outline can be seen.
