Description
Color follows the folds of the robe: warm orange across the shoulders, bright red down the sleeves and deep burgundy over the crossed legs. A green chest panel sets off the narrow gold-toned vase, while a delicate willow sprig curves outward from the raised hand. Below, broad lotus petals sit above a round base filled with floral scrollwork and small red and green accents.
The Willow and the Vase
Willow Guanyin takes its name from the branch held in the right hand. The Chinese name Yangliu Guanyin (杨柳观音) refers to this willow-bearing imagery. Together, the willow and water vase belong to a long tradition of portraying Guanyin’s compassion: the branch is used to sprinkle the pure water held in the vessel. Placed in a home shrine, the pairing offers a daily reminder of care for others.
Guanyin is also known as Kuan Yin. This seated figure is offered on its own; its form appears in the Saha Three Sages grouping, called Suopo Sansheng in Chinese. The photographs in this gallery show the individual Guanyin you are choosing.
Painted Color and Gold Leaf
The brass body is made by lost-wax casting in Tongling, Anhui, China. Hand-painted color is combined with gold leaf applied to selected areas. Fine robe borders, the necklace and the patterned lotus base give you more to notice as you move closer. A pale veil frames the face, and a small seated Buddha appears in the crown.
The front-facing posture suits a shrine arranged around a central figure. Leave space around the raised branch and use a substantial, level surface: even the smaller version weighs approximately 7.5 kg (16.5 lb).
Which Size Fits Your Space?
| Height | Base diameter | Statue weight |
|---|---|---|
| 39 cm (15.4 in) | 25.5 cm (10.0 in) | 7.5 kg (16.5 lb) |
| 48.5 cm (19.1 in) | 31 cm (12.2 in) | 11.5 kg (25.4 lb) |
The 39 cm version is shown in the angled, back and detail photographs. The larger version has its own labeled specification image. Select the height that leaves comfortable clearance above the crown and around the circular base.
Your order includes one Guanyin statue with its integrated lotus pedestal, in the selected size. Keep the painted and gilded surface indoors and dry. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid metal polish, abrasive cleaners and solvents. Support the base when lifting, and keep pressure off the willow sprig, vase and fingers.
