Description
An upright figure, a small wheel and a generous lotus base give this Putuo Guanyin a clear silhouette. Closer in, the sculpture becomes more intricate: curling borders follow the robe, bead-like strands cross the chest, and a small seated figure appears in the crown. Copper highlights pick out the raised details against darker recesses.
A Figure Associated with Mount Putuo
Putuo refers to Mount Putuo, the island off Zhejiang associated with Guanyin’s sacred abode and a long tradition of Buddhist pilgrimage. This Putuo Guan Yin holds a Dharma wheel above the lotus pedestal. Its red-brown copper surface reveals the raised robe borders without painted color.
The wheel supported in the left palm is the Dharma wheel, a symbol of Buddhist teaching. Here it sits between the raised right hand and the long folds of the garment. Together with the lowered gaze, these details offer a quiet focal point for daily practice.
Copper and Scale
This standing copper Guanyin is cast in Tongling, Anhui, using the lost-wax method. Its reddish-brown surface catches the light along the rounded lotus petals, broad sleeves and narrow robe borders. A softly lit indoor position lets those changes remain visible without overpowering the expression.
There is a real difference between the compact 22 cm (8.7 in) figure and the 47.5 cm (18.7 in) version, which weighs approximately 9 kg (19.84 lb). Their faces, robe ornament and proportions also vary. Use the photograph attached to your selected height when choosing; the extended detail gallery shows the 47.5 cm version, and the rotation video matches the 38 cm version.
| Total height | Base diameter | Statue weight |
|---|---|---|
| 22 cm (8.7 in) | 10 cm (3.9 in) | 1.3 kg (2.87 lb) |
| 28 cm (11.0 in) | 12.3 cm (4.8 in) | 2 kg (4.41 lb) |
| 38 cm (15.0 in) | 17 cm (6.7 in) | 4.75 kg (10.47 lb) |
| 47.5 cm (18.7 in) | 21.5 cm (8.5 in) | 9 kg (19.84 lb) |
The smaller bases suit a compact indoor shrine or cabinet. For the larger sizes, check the supporting surface as well as the clearance above the crown. All measurements and statue weights are approximate.
Your selection includes one copper Putuo Guanyin statue with its lotus pedestal. Furniture and other objects in the setting photographs are display props. Lift from beneath the base, keeping pressure off the hands and wheel. Dust with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive polishing, acidic cleaners and prolonged dampness.
