Description
A full, rounded face sits above a compact, cross-legged body. The eyes are softly closed, the mouth curves into a small smile, and the hands meet at the chest. Broad folds keep the robe simple, while fine lines sweep through the hair into the high topknot. This mini Guanyin figurine has a playful sense of proportion without losing the quietness of the pose.
A Small Gesture of Reverence
The joined palms are the reason for the name Hezhang Guanyin (合掌观音): hezhang means bringing the palms together. In Buddhist art, this gesture, also called anjali mudra, expresses respect and reverence. Here it becomes the focus of a small, contemporary carving of Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion.
The joined palms give this little boxwood Kuan Yin a clear gesture even at 7 cm high. Rounded cheeks and a high topknot make it approachable, with a simple robe that leaves the expression and hands as the focus.
Warm Wood, Small Scale
The figurine is carved in large-leaf boxwood, with a warm yellow appearance and visible grain across the robes. Its compact body rests directly on the display surface. From behind, the sweeping hair and broad back offer a different view of the carving.
Approximate measurements are 7 cm high × 4.1 cm wide × 4.1 cm deep (2.8 × 1.6 × 1.6 in). The hand-held photograph helps show how small it is; allow slight variation in hand-measured dimensions and the natural grain and tone of the wood.
You receive one large-leaf boxwood Guanyin figurine in the warm natural tone shown. The display mat and other photographic props are not included.
Keep it on a level indoor surface away from water, direct sunlight and heat. Lift around the lower body, avoiding pressure on the hands or topknot, and dust gently with a soft, dry brush.
