Xiangyun Guanyin Statue with a Sculpted Cloud Base

Curling clouds give this seated Guanyin a broad, low foundation beneath the pointed lotus petals. The all-white versions draw attention to the sculpted form; painted options bring pink lotus tips, gold-tone lines or richly colored robes. Xiangyun, “auspicious clouds,” makes this a thoughtful choice for a devotional space or a gift of good wishes.

Description

Clouds Beneath the Lotus

Look below the lotus and you will find the detail that gives this design its name: a band of curling cloud motifs around the low pedestal. Pointed petals rise above it, framing Guanyin’s folded robes. The figure holds a slender vase in one hand and raises the other beside the shoulder. Lowered eyes and a small seated figure in the crown complete the composition.

A Name Full of Good Wishes

Xiangyun (祥云) means “auspicious clouds.” The curling band beneath the lotus turns this design name into a visible detail. For a gift expressing good wishes, the name carries the sentiment; the cloud relief gives this Xiangyun Quan Yin an identity of its own.

Color Across the Clouds and Robes

The two white versions are described by the supplier as Dehua white porcelain. With no painted color to interrupt them, the robe folds, necklace and petal contours remain the focus. White & Gold Accents adds painted facial details, fine gold-tone lines and pink-tipped petals. The larger painted models offer gold-tone robes with a turquoise vase, pink robes above a blue base, or orange robes with painted decoration across the lap above a dark reddish base. Painted models are listed as ceramic. Crown, face and lotus details also vary between sizes; each option has its own photograph.

Plan for the Footprint

The two smaller models are 30–30.5 cm (11.8–12.0 in) high, while the larger versions stand 38–39 cm (15.0–15.4 in). The cloud base makes these relatively broad figures: allow for the full length and width below, as well as clearance around the crown and raised hand. The measurements refer to the statue including its sculpted base.
