Heye Guanyin Statue with Vase and Lotus Leaf Base

Description

The Lotus Leaf Beneath the Seat

Heye means “lotus leaf.” Look below the petals to see the feature that gives this design its name: a wide leaf with edges that rise and fall around the base. Folded legs and draped sleeves lead the eye toward the small vase held at the center. A seated figure appears in the crown, above downcast eyes and a gently curved mouth.

The Vase at the Center

The pure-water vase is a familiar attribute of Guanyin, associated with compassion and wisdom. Both hands support it at the center of Heye Quan Yin, while the broad leaf spreads outward below. The small vessel and expansive base give the design two distinct scales of detail.

Choosing the Finish

The 29.7 cm Pale Cream model has a lighter appearance in its photograph; the 40 cm Warm Cream model has a warmer tone. Both are the supplier’s Yahuang finish, with differences in proportions and carving between the two sizes. Pink & Turquoise pairs pink robes with a blue-green leaf and a yellow vase. Pearlescent White has a reflective sheen across the robes, pink-tipped petals and a darker leaf base. Each option is shown with its own photograph. The face and hand close-ups show the 40 cm Warm Cream model.

Room for the Whole Leaf

The smaller figures are approximately 29.7 or 30 cm (11.7 or 11.8 in) tall. Both larger figures measure approximately 40 cm (15.7 in) high, with a footprint of 26 × 25.5 cm (10.2 × 10.0 in). Allow room for the full leaf base on a level indoor surface; the curved edges should sit clear of the shelf edge. Full height, length and width are listed for each model.

Included and Care

You receive one ceramic Heye Guanyin statue in the selected model and finish, including the sculpted lotus and leaf base shown in its photograph. Lift from beneath the base and dust with a soft, dry brush. Avoid pressure on the hands, vase and crown.
