Four-Armed Guanyin Statue with Joined Palms

Description

A Four-Armed Form of Guanyin

The joined palms sit at the center of this four-armed Guanyin statue, with an upright lotus in one of the outer hands. The open arrangement leaves space around each arm, while the crossed legs rest on a rounded lotus pedestal. A tall crown, hanging ornaments and long folds in the sleeves complete the figure.

Guanyin and Chenrezig

Guanyin, also written Kuan Yin or Quan Yin, is the Chinese name of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. In Tibetan Buddhism, Avalokiteshvara is known as Chenrezig. The four-armed form is associated with the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum and with the four immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity. For daily contemplation, the joined hands and lotus can recall that intention to care for others. This is a contemporary ceramic interpretation made in China.

White, Gold Lines or Red and Blue

White keeps the face, clothing, ornaments and pedestal in a glossy porcelain finish. White & Gold pairs pale robes with black hair, painted features, light green necklace accents and fine gold-colored outlines. Red, Blue & Gold brings red robes, a blue lotus pedestal, a gold-colored crown and multicolored ornaments.

Choosing the Size

White is offered at approximately 32 cm (12.6 in) and 42 cm (16.5 in). Both painted versions are approximately 32 cm (12.6 in) tall. The larger white figure has its own sculpted proportions and details; use the photograph for the selected option when comparing. Allow room around the outstretched arms as well as above the crown.

Included and Care

Includes one statue with its attached lotus pedestal and gift-box packaging. Display indoors on a stable, level surface. Lift from the base with both hands, without gripping the crown, arms or lotus. Dust gently with a soft brush; avoid abrasive cleaners on the glaze and painted decoration.
