Baolian Guanyin on a Lotus Rising from Waves

Description

At the foot of Baolian Guanyin, curling waves meet an open lotus and a single closed bud. Above them, the figure sits upright, the vase balanced in one palm and a small sprig held in the raised hand. The movement of the base gives the still figure a gentle sense of life.

Baolian (宝莲) means “precious lotus.” The open flower and closed bud rising above the waves make that name visible in this design. The full seated figure above them is Baolian Quan Yin, with the water vase and small sprig associated with Guanyin’s compassion.

White keeps the figure, lotus and waves in a single glossy glaze. The painted versions introduce pink-tipped petals, colored waves, painted facial features and gold-colored details. White & Blue has white robes over a blue wave base; White & Gold keeps the base pale. Teal & Blue colors the robes as well, while Gold & Blue adds a golden tone to the clothing. Pearl White & Mint is a separate 31 cm (12.2 in) version with its own softer palette and sculpted details.
