Gulian Guanyin with a Vase on a Lotus Throne

Description

The rounded lotus petals give this Gulian Guanyin a full, substantial seat. Gulian (古莲), literally “ancient lotus,” names the lotus-throne design of this contemporary figure. Above it, the robes fall around crossed legs; one hand holds a slender vase, while the other lifts a small leaf-shaped sprig. The slightly upturned lips soften the formal, upright pose.

The White version carries the form in a single glossy glaze. On White & Purple, pale robes are edged in gold-colored lines, the face has painted features, and pink-tipped purple petals sit above a decorated pedestal. These are distinct finishes, with a separate photograph for every height.

The vase and small raised sprig are held close to the body, keeping Gulian Kwan Yin’s outline compact above the broad throne. The gently upturned mouth softens the formal seated pose; the choice between white and purple changes which details draw the eye first.
