Description
Look beside Guanyin’s left arm: a small parrot perches on the rocky ledge. On the opposite side sits a stack of books. Between them, Guanyin holds a narrow water vase and a leafy sprig, with one knee raised and the other foot lowered onto a lotus. The composition has the intimacy of a small landscape, with flowing waves and flowers gathered around the seat.
A Companion with a Story
The parrot has a place in Chinese Guanyin tradition. In one devotional story, Guanyin responds to a parrot’s devotion to its parents; in gratitude, the bird asks to remain by the bodhisattva’s side. Here, that small companion brings a theme of gratitude into a sculpture centered on compassion.
The English name Rock-Seated Guanyin describes the figure’s rocky seat and relaxed, asymmetrical pose. Suopo Guanyin refers here to the Guanyin figure from the Saha Three Sages grouping. Suopo (娑婆) is the Chinese rendering of Saha; the three figures are Shakyamuni Buddha, Guanyin and Ksitigarbha. Guanyin, also known as Kuan Yin, embodies compassion. This product presents Guanyin as a single statue.
Brown Robes, Gold-Toned Detail
Made in Tongling, Anhui, China, this brass statue has an antique tea-brown finish. Lighter gold-toned areas pick out the face, hands, necklace and robe patterns, while the deeper brown defines the folds and rockwork. The crown carries a small Buddha figure; lotus motifs continue across the garment and into the base.
Give the sculpture space on either side so the bird, books and projecting lotus flowers remain visible. The video follows the figure from its front toward the side and back, showing the depth of the rocky seat and the robe falling over it.
Size and Placement
The statue is approximately 39 cm (15.4 in) high, with a 22 × 22 cm (8.7 × 8.7 in) footprint. Its approximate weight is 6 kg (13.2 lb). Choose a level, sturdy surface with enough room for the whole base.
Your order includes one brass Guanyin statue with its integrated rock, wave and lotus base. Keep it indoors and dry. When moving it, support the base with both hands and avoid pressure on the sprig, vase, fingers or bird. A soft, dry cloth is suitable for light dusting; avoid abrasive polish and acidic cleaners.
