Description

The small smile gives this miniature Guanyin its welcoming character. Its design name, Ruyi (如意), expresses the wish that things go as hoped, often rendered “as you wish.” That sentiment makes the little figure a thoughtful token of encouragement, or something to keep near a photograph of someone dear.

The supplier calls this design Ruyi Guanyin, Q version, a playful miniature with a large round head and short, robed body. Curved eyes and a small smile soften the face. One hand is raised beside the chin; the other holds a little vase, with a leafy sprig reaching up alongside the cheek. The hair sweeps back to a small topknot.

A Mini Kuan Yin with a Kindly Expression

The gray surface has a fine-grained appearance, with the hair, sleeves and hands clearly outlined. At approximately 5 cm (2.0 in) high, this is a true miniature; its footprint is only 4.3 × 3.6 cm (1.7 × 1.4 in).
